Green Energy Drives
The ‘just’ energy transition has been commonly presented as the needed transition to usher the world into environmentally sustainable economies and just societies for all. However, what is relatively missing in most of these visions are conversations about who and what is enabling technological advancement in the global north. Increasing evidence shows that the consumption of technology is characterized by inequalities rooted in the exploitative, extractive colonial past that continue to be reproduced in contemporary times albeit in hidden forms of coloniality.
Green Energy Drives exists to document and interrogate which forces, from governments, corporate strategies, to local pressure and activism, merge in driving the energy transition.
