“Khore “Hare: Welcome to Our Story

“Khore “Hare: Welcome to Our Story (2026) is the outcome of a research trip to the Northern Cape, in the Namaqaland and Richtersveld regions. Researchers confronted Nama People with questions regarding the perception around the Boegoebaai green hydrogen project.

The film shows a lively desert where life, society, and culture continue marked by extractivist post-colonial relations. The movie features interviews with various Nama culture representatives: from a Nama former miner, the Nama church pastor, and Nama elders to the young activists from the organization Environmental Traits. While concerns over green hydrogen were the main motivation driving this research, in “Khore “Hare the Boegoebaai is mostly in the back ground. Responding to our queries, the Nama people portrayed here often insisted in showing features of their rapidly changed culture.

This movie aims to capture what Nama people told us and wanted us to know during our permanence in Namaqaland, but also the role and responsibility of researchers in gathering and disseminating informations.
